The Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek section is a 24-kilometre stretch of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, a shared walking and cycling path built along the former rail corridor between the Tweed and Byron hinterland. It runs on a mix of sealed and compacted-gravel surfaces, passing over old rail bridges and through heritage tunnels with views across farmland, forest and the wider Tweed Valley.
The trail starts near Murwillumbah Railway Station and is suited to walking, cycling and e-bikes, with gentle rail grades making it accessible for a wide range of fitness levels. It's free to use and open at any time, and bike-hire operators based at the railway station make it easy to ride a section without bringing your own bike.
An easy-grade walk or cycle through Tweed Valley scenery, riding the old rail bridges and tunnels, and a half-day e-bike adventure from Murwillumbah.
