The Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre is the town's main auditorium and function venue, on Tumbulgum Road and owned by Tweed Shire Council. Built in 1974 and officially opened in 1975 by Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, it has long been the home of community theatre, musicals, concerts, dances and civic gatherings in Murwillumbah.
The auditorium seats up to 500 and includes a stage, piano, foyer, control room and three dressing rooms, with a commercial kitchen available on request — suiting everything from performances to conferences, exhibitions and meetings. A $2.5 million refurbishment from 2020 onwards renewed the roof, upgraded theatre lighting and sound, refreshed the foyer and added accessible toilets and backstage access. Bookings are managed through Tweed Shire Council.
