New Govardhana is a Hare Krishna temple, working farm and spiritual community at Eungella, in the hills west of Murwillumbah, run by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). At its heart is the New Govardhana temple, with a daily morning program of meditation and chanting, Bhagavatam philosophy classes, and a community dedicated to the practice of bhakti yoga and sustainable, devotional farming.
Visitors are welcome to attend temple services, the popular Sunday feast and the lively annual festivals, eat at the Govinda's vegetarian restaurant, and explore the farm and its goshalla (cow sanctuary). The property is also home to the Krishna Village retreat, which offers stays, yoga and volunteering. It's a peaceful day trip from town and a long-running fixture of the Tweed's spiritual life.
Attending temple worship and the Sunday feast, vegetarian meals at Govinda's, festivals, and a quiet retreat or volunteering stay in the Tweed hinterland.
Temple programs run daily, with a morning program, Sunday feast and regular festivals throughout the year. Govinda's restaurant and the Krishna Village retreat keep their own hours — check the website or call ahead before visiting.
