Bob Whittle Murwillumbah Airfield (aviation code YMUR) is a small general-aviation airfield in South Murwillumbah, owned and managed by Tweed Shire Council. Its single grass-on-shale runway runs roughly north–south (18/36) and is about 800 metres long, with run-up bays and on-site fuel. The field sits close to Gold Coast Airport's airspace and is used for a range of light-aircraft operations including flight training, charter and scenic flights, agricultural (crop-dusting) work and aircraft restoration and maintenance.
The airfield is home to the Murwillumbah Aero Club, formed in 1946, whose members share their passion for flying the Tweed coast and operate a club aircraft for hire. The field is named in honour of the late Bob Whittle, a local World War II Spitfire pilot and one of the club's founders. It is an operational aerodrome rather than a public park, so visitors should keep clear of the movement areas and follow council and pilot guidance.
Pilots and student pilots flying the Tweed Valley, light-aircraft charter and scenic flights, and aviation enthusiasts keen on the Murwillumbah Aero Club.
As an operational airfield, access and movements are governed by the relevant pilot notes and Tweed Shire Council, rather than fixed public opening hours. Pilots should refer to the official council pilot information and the Murwillumbah Aero Club before flying in.
